Our Sustainability Promise

At the Polar Technology Group, we recognise that any manufacturing activity today has an impact on the finite resources of our planet and on the environment. The lifecycle of products, from materials extraction through transport and transformation to a use phase and subsequent disposal or reuse does not currently occur in a manner that is sustainable in the long term. This is a fact which we do not shy away from and we recognise our responsibility in the continuous reduction of the environmental impact which our activities have.

We are however passionate about the role that our technology, product design and manufacturing philosophy have in being part of the solution to the global challenge of arriving at a future of net zero CO2 emissions and a sustainable prosperity of human activity based on a circular economy model.

The trajectory to net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 across all economic sectors requires basic principles which we believe Polar Technology’s products address:

The need to reduce material consumption and reduce complexity (fewer parts) in any engineering system.

The need to reduce weight of any form of transport (terrestrial or airborne) as an essential ingredient to the energy demands of transport

The need for much better energy transfer, conservation, and transformation in multiple sectors but particularly in Energy supply.

The need to move from fossil fuels to alternative forms of energy supply, with a particular focus on Electrification of the transport sector.

Polar’s Design Philosophy and our 4 Product Themes directly address the needs listed above:

We design our products for minimum material content, minimum number of parts and minimum complexity of manufacturing process.

We engineer and manufacture systems that increase the efficiency of Fluid and Heat Transfer.

We engineer and manufacture Lightweight Structures. We engineer and manufacture Power Transmission components and systems.

And we have an active role on the Move to Electrification of the transport sector.

We recognise that our own activities must constantly strive to have a lower impact on those very same areas and that we are not yet where we want to be. But we are certain that our Products are already providing with tangible benefits to our Customers by enabling them to continue on their trajectory to net zero CO2.
